An update on Abbeydale, Yarwell, and Exbury

Since 2019, our team has been supporting residents in the Abbeydale, Yarwell, and Exbury blocks in Lower Falinge to find new homes. This is in line with the proposals which we discussed with Lower Falinge residents in 2017 after extensive community consultation.

After these discussions in 2017, further conversations were then held with each individual household and then demolition notices then issued to the affected homes.

All residents in these three blocks have either already moved or are set to move in the very near future. We want to build new homes on this site as soon as possible. This means we are now preparing to demolish these blocks. This will enable us to move to the next stage of our plans to deliver the quality and mix of homes that residents in Rochdale town centre need and deserve, now and into the future. The plans reflect the feedback we received from the community in our consultation, and will help us to create a brighter, greener Lower Falinge together.

As part of the requirements for demolition, we are required to submit a notice to Rochdale Borough Council to tell them that we intend to demolish the blocks in the near future. You may have seen the notices that we have put up in the neighbourhood – these notices are part of the process.

We hope to be in a position to begin demolition early next year, and we will make sure that nearby residents are informed as soon as we are able to provide a confirmed timescale.

As always, our team is on hand to provide any support or information you require. Please contact us on towncentre.regen@rbh.org.uk or call us on Freephone 0800 027 7769 (option 7).
