Residents at nearby Falinge Mews Independent Living Scheme held an afternoon tea on Tuesday 9th October to celebrate the completion of a £200,000 refurbishment.
They were joined by contractors CES Ltd and local councillors Cecile Biant and Faisal Rana along with RBH employees.
The scheme has seen all internal doors replaced, new internal decorations carried out, and the outside of the building given a facelift with deep cleaning works over the last 15 weeks.
The Independent Living scheme has been made more dementia friendly with each floor being painted a distinct colour and memory boxes being placed outside each residents home.
The refurbishment represents a £200,000 investment by RBH, further improving the housing offer for older people in and around central Rochdale.
Wendy Stewart, RBH Customer Safety Manager, said:
“The design is modern, and the scheme now has a bright and airy feel raising the overall quality. The scheme is attractive and welcoming, and the communal facilities will be used not only by the residents but also for local events – bringing the community together. We have also incorporated dementia friendly design to provide an environment that meets the needs of all our older residents.”
Councillor Cecile Biant said:
“It is lovely to see that the residents are pleased with the new refurbishment. It makes the place feel light, bright and cheerful. I am pleased that RBH is looking after and investing in their buildings. All the residents we met are very happy here and could not speak highly enough of the contractors and RBH employees.”
